Alternative to Whatagraph

The Whatagraph alternative for digital marketing agencies

Whatagraph makes the data beautiful. Phloz makes it trustworthy — tracking assurance + agency ops around every client.

What you're probably tired of

  • Beautiful cross-channel reports rendered over data nobody has verified — broken tracking looks like a design choice
  • Report-building is polished; the agency around it (tasks, approvals, client comms, retainers) is duct tape
  • Enterprise-leaning pricing for what is, day to day, a reporting canvas
  • No alert when a client's GA4/GTM/pixel setup degrades — you find out in next month's report

What changes on Phloz

  • A typed tracking-infrastructure map per client with a 17-rule audit engine, 0–100 score, and weekly attention digest
  • Agency operations in the same tool: CRM, tasks with client approval, message threads, magic-link portals, retainer-burn
  • A trust-framed monthly client report (with portal sign-off) grounded in setup health
  • Self-serve, per-active-client pricing

Should you actually switch?

A switch is real cost — a few days of structural mapping, a parallel-running week, training time, and the friction of breaking habits your team has built. Worth it when the new tool meaningfully changes how you work; not worth it when the gain is incremental.

The five signals that you're ready to leave Whatagraph: (1) you're paying for seats or contacts you don't use, (2) you're running the tracking stack in a separate Sheet because the CRM has nowhere for it, (3) onboarding a new team member takes more than a day because the configuration is tribal knowledge, (4) clients ask "where do I see progress?" and you don't have a clean answer, (5) you're duplicating client data across two or three tools because no single tool fits.

If three of those five describe your agency, the structural upgrade pays back inside a quarter. If only one or two, stay where you are and revisit at the next pricing renewal — switching for marginal gain is usually a worse decision than the marginal gain.

When Whatagraph is still the right choice

The honest counter-positioning. Whatagraphisn't wrong for everyone — these are the cases where staying makes more sense than switching. If any of them describe you, weigh the trade carefully before migrating.

  • The polished cross-channel visual report IS the deliverable — that's Whatagraph's whole product and Phloz doesn't compete with it.
  • You use its BigQuery / data-transfer pipelines as lightweight ETL.
  • Multi-brand enterprise reporting (many sub-accounts, one org) is your shape.
  • You have no need for CRM/delivery/portal features — reporting only.

Migration: what to plan for

Whatagraph holds report layouts + connected sources, not client/delivery data, so there's little to migrate: CSV in your client list, build each tracking map, and re-point the team's daily work (tasks, messages, approvals) at Phloz. Keep Whatagraph if the visual cross-channel deck is a deliverable clients pay for — Phloz doesn't ingest platform data or render metric dashboards.

The structural rethink — mapping Whatagraph's shape to Phloz's opinionated agency model — takes longer than the data move. Read the marketing agency CRM buyer's guide for the six capabilities that should drive the decision, and the pricing page to run the per-active-client math at your client count.

Whatagraph migration FAQ

The three questions agency owners ask before signing the switch decision. Honest answers — same data we'd give a friend evaluating the move.

Is Phloz a cheaper Whatagraph?
No — a different layer. Whatagraph visualizes marketing data; Phloz models and monitors the tracking infrastructure that produces it, and runs the agency's client operations. The overlap is only the phrase "client reporting": Whatagraph's report is live metrics, Phloz's is tracking health + trust (with sign-off).
What does "tracking assurance" get me that a report doesn't?
Early failure detection. A report — however beautiful — renders whatever the platforms hand it. Phloz's audit engine checks the setup itself: unverified nodes, pixels with no CAPI dedup, call tracking not reporting into GA4/Ads, properties nobody has touched in months. Those become findings, a score, and a Monday digest — before they become a bad chart.
Can I keep Whatagraph for reports and use Phloz for everything else?
Yes — that's the expected split for Whatagraph shops. Whatagraph stays the client-facing metrics deck; Phloz becomes the system of record for clients, delivery, and tracking health, and its portal gives clients the trust view (health score, sign-off) no metrics deck provides.

What you keep when you migrate

The honest list of what survives the move from Whatagraph. Your client list and contact records (CSV import). Your active tasks and their assignees, statuses, due dates (CSV import). Your custom fields, on clients and tasks (mapped to Phloz custom fields during import). Your inbound email addresses if you set up forwarding (re-pointed at the per-client Phloz inbound addresses).

What doesn't survive: historical activity logs older than what you'd realistically reference (most agencies discover they don't open activity from before the last quarter). Bespoke automation rules built on Whatagraph's specific automation engine — these need to be re-expressed in Phloz's patterns (recurring tasks, status hooks, inbound thread routing) or offloaded to Inngest / Zapier. Time entries stay in your time-tracking tool of record (Phloz integrates rather than re-imports).

The trade is a lighter, more opinionated tool that runs your agency's shape natively — at the cost of some per-tool customisation that, in retrospect, was usually a workaround for a missing primitive. See agency project management software for the broader buyer's guide on what to evaluate alongside this switch decision.
