Alternative to DashThis
The DashThis alternative for digital marketing agencies
DashThis automates the dashboard. Phloz monitors the tracking setup underneath it — and runs the agency around every client.
What you're probably tired of
- Dashboards update on schedule, but nothing checks the tracking setup feeding them — a broken tag flows straight into the client's report
- Preset templates cover the reporting; the rest of the client work (tasks, approvals, messages, retainers) is scattered across other tools
- Paying per dashboard while the real risk — silently broken tracking — goes unmonitored
- Clients ask "why did this number drop?" and the honest answer requires an infrastructure check no dashboard offers
What changes on Phloz
- A typed tracking-infrastructure map per client (GA4, GTM, pixels, CAPI) with a 17-rule audit engine + 0–100 score
- A weekly digest that names the client whose tracking needs attention — push, not pull
- CRM + tasks + client approvals + magic-link portals + retainer-burn in one agency-shaped tool
- A monthly trust-framed client report (with portal sign-off) grounded in setup health
Should you actually switch?
A switch is real cost — a few days of structural mapping, a parallel-running week, training time, and the friction of breaking habits your team has built. Worth it when the new tool meaningfully changes how you work; not worth it when the gain is incremental.
The five signals that you're ready to leave DashThis: (1) you're paying for seats or contacts you don't use, (2) you're running the tracking stack in a separate Sheet because the CRM has nowhere for it, (3) onboarding a new team member takes more than a day because the configuration is tribal knowledge, (4) clients ask "where do I see progress?" and you don't have a clean answer, (5) you're duplicating client data across two or three tools because no single tool fits.
If three of those five describe your agency, the structural upgrade pays back inside a quarter. If only one or two, stay where you are and revisit at the next pricing renewal — switching for marginal gain is usually a worse decision than the marginal gain.
When DashThis is still the right choice
The honest counter-positioning. DashThisisn't wrong for everyone — these are the cases where staying makes more sense than switching. If any of them describe you, weigh the trade carefully before migrating.
- A simple, flat-priced, preset live dashboard per client IS what you sell — DashThis is exactly that and Phloz doesn't compete with it.
- You want zero setup beyond connecting sources; Phloz's map is deliberately hand-modelled (that's what makes it auditable).
- Reporting-only needs, no CRM/delivery/portal appetite.
- Budget-anchored: DashThis flat pricing on a handful of dashboards is hard to beat for pure reporting.
Migration: what to plan for
DashThis holds dashboards + connected sources, not client or delivery records — so there's little to migrate. CSV in your client list, build each tracking map (the onboarding audit seeds it), and keep DashThis if the live-metrics dashboard is a deliverable clients pay for: Phloz doesn't pull platform data, so the two answer different questions.
The structural rethink — mapping DashThis's shape to Phloz's opinionated agency model — takes longer than the data move. Read the marketing agency CRM buyer's guide for the six capabilities that should drive the decision, and the pricing page to run the per-active-client math at your client count.
DashThis migration FAQ
The three questions agency owners ask before signing the switch decision. Honest answers — same data we'd give a friend evaluating the move.
- Does Phloz replace my DashThis dashboards?
- No — Phloz has no live data connectors, so it doesn't render metric dashboards. It replaces the layer DashThis never had: modelling + monitoring each client's tracking setup (audits, 0–100 score, weekly digest) and running the agency's client operations. Reporting-heavy agencies keep DashThis alongside; ops-heavy agencies find the Phloz report (health + trust + sign-off) is what their clients actually needed.
- What breaks silently in a DashThis-only stack?
- The tracking itself. A conversion tag that stops firing, a GTM container nobody has verified in months, a pixel without CAPI dedup — the dashboard keeps rendering whatever the platform reports, so the failure surfaces as a mysterious dip weeks later. Phloz's audit engine checks the setup continuously and emails you when it degrades, before the dashboard goes wrong.
- How much work is the switch?
- Small: CSV client import, then minutes per client to map their tracking (the onboarding audit walks it — no data-source OAuth dance, because Phloz models the setup rather than pulling data). Delivery habits (tasks, messages, approvals) move over a parallel week.
What you keep when you migrate
The honest list of what survives the move from DashThis. Your client list and contact records (CSV import). Your active tasks and their assignees, statuses, due dates (CSV import). Your custom fields, on clients and tasks (mapped to Phloz custom fields during import). Your inbound email addresses if you set up forwarding (re-pointed at the per-client Phloz inbound addresses).
What doesn't survive: historical activity logs older than what you'd realistically reference (most agencies discover they don't open activity from before the last quarter). Bespoke automation rules built on DashThis's specific automation engine — these need to be re-expressed in Phloz's patterns (recurring tasks, status hooks, inbound thread routing) or offloaded to Inngest / Zapier. Time entries stay in your time-tracking tool of record (Phloz integrates rather than re-imports).
The trade is a lighter, more opinionated tool that runs your agency's shape natively — at the cost of some per-tool customisation that, in retrospect, was usually a workaround for a missing primitive. See agency project management software for the broader buyer's guide on what to evaluate alongside this switch decision.
